soccer skills and a wicked arm workout

Another afternoon in the forest kept us occupied one weekend day recently. We alternated between soccer and what we call "extreme bocce ball".  It's bocce ball in the wild, on anything but a manicured court.
Right before leaving the boys (dad included) engaged in a game that consisted of trying to kick the ball over the tallest trees and getting to it before the other person - or something like that. I never do seem to understand the "rules" or "procedures" of such games. On one particular kick the ball (a brand new soccer ball I might add) landed, and stayed in one such tall tree.

For the next 30 minutes or so Mr. Bejos threw tennis ball sized rocks over, and over, and over, and over again at the ball. He refused to leave without the ball.
The next day someone had a sore shoulder.

5.14.18

These two love the forest, most of the time. This particular day I remember having to coerce and convince them that it was the perfect day for an outing in the woods with our pouch couches and a few snacks. Begrudgingly they helped pack up the car.
No less than 15 minutes upon securing a perfect spot these boys were barefoot, covered in dirt and happily constructing something or other that was conjured up in their imaginations. Meanwhile Mr. Bejos and I sat together to soak up the sun (me) and enjoy the fresh air.

Wandering in the woods, we stumbled upon a make-shift disc golf course amidst a recent forest clearing. We had to search out the perfect number for each boy, obviously.

8

On Sunday this boy turned 8.

As tradition dictates, we headed to warm, warm Phoenix for a birthday adventure.
He chose the Children's Museum.
It was a great choice!
