Happy Hour

We recently discovered a local quiet spot for a cozy happy hour. Cheers!

girly things

Bear with me me as I venture into a realm I don't often visit, to tell you a funny story.

As a girl I was obsessed with make-up. When I stayed home "sick" from school I would hope and pray that there was a makeover bit on one of the daytime talk shows. Teach me how to apply blue eye shadow you '90s hosts of daytime talk....Sally Jessy, Phil, Oprah.

And then I entered a phase of my life where make-up just didn't matter. I mean seriously, until I got married 4 years ago I was carrying around the make-up I wore to prom. No joke! So when I read a blog post in which the writer overhears a stylish older woman talking about her go-to lip color, I thought, Perfect!, sign me up because I need a place to start.

Off to Target I went where I was utterly overwhelmed by the shades of lipstick, stain, and gloss. But no problem because all I needed was a tube of Revlon's Love That Pink. Except that doubt crept in because the shade seemed a little too pink? orange? and not quite right. Throwing caution to the wind, and completely confident in my choice I marched to the checkout and payed for the oh-so-wrong color. The reflection in the car's rear view mirror confirmed the doubt.

Luckily Target has a very generous return policy and I was able to recoup my losses and choose a better shade that is so very....well here, see yourself:

I know what you are thinking.
How daring!
How perfect a shade!
Is she really wearing lipstick???

I settled on Revlon's Smoky Rose which is probably related to a dormant childhood memory of my first "big girl" bike called the Dusty Rose. I have truly come full circle from my 90s self.

puzzle

My dad and I have a similar attraction to puzzles. Or, as our spouses would categorize it, an obsession with the completion of a puzzle. This summer my dad and I endured a marathon trying to complete a puzzle, to the exclusion of interacting with the rest of the household. Yes, we are both get that involved in projects. Mr bejos would even go as far to say that we get the same look while concentrating on the task at hand. Something about a scowl that crosses the face with a tongue poking out.

I got this puzzle for Christmas from, you guessed it...my dad. We have no extra room in home but I did want to complete this bad boy. So I cleared off the kitchen table and gave myself a weekend, no longer, to complete it.

 ta da!
and because he does everything we do, little bejos took on his own challenge

sweet tooth

Like his father, little bejos has a bit of a sweet tooth. We don't indulge it too often but after another snowy outing we warmed up with hot cocoa, and a peppermint stir stick. As sweet as it gets.

Obviously it was good to the last drop

March Madness

Although basketball is the main event around here these days...with mr. bejos winning the pool so far...the real madness is the weather outside. A late March snow storm of epic proportions is dumping inches and inches upon us this cold windy Sunday. We have shoveled twice and continue to watch the plows travel up and down the streets with unwaning excitement each and every time.
"Mama, plow!"

the post

There is nothing better than a hand-written letter.
My BFF is fantastic at it.
And so are my nephews.
Or, to be more accurate, my to-be sister in-law.

Letter writing campaign

Sitting down for an enchilada dinner the other night, mr. bejos and I almost gagged, literally, from the overwhelming salt level that the enchilada sauce lent to the meal. OMG, it was simply the very worst.

Typically mr. bejos is the king of letter writing campaigns to companies whose products don't live up to his standards. Candy bars, canned beans, you name it. Well, after tossing the entire dish of spinach mushroom enchiladas I promptly drafted an on-line letter myself.

Less than a week later I got this pile of coupons in the mail. Funny, right?

It didn't quite make up for the lost meal, but mr. bejos did...by making me an entire new pan of enchiladas for when I arrived home from my weekend away. Good man, a very good man.

the desert

**forgive the bluriness. I have gotten a little lazy as of late and snapped many of my pics straight from the phone. Who am I kidding...there was no way I was going to carry my Pentax, the little bejos and hold on to Cooper at the same time.

The boys on their own

While I was away the boys kept busy without me.
Being boys they apparently felt the need to show their manly-hood by visiting the local big box hardware store.

And look what they built together.

A weekend away

As I have mentioned, work takes me away from home on occasion. This occasion was the conference that my organization puts on every year. Many months of work and it is over in such a short amount of time. Last year baby bejos joined me in Utah since mr. bejos was on the river. As much as I love my little munchkin I was quite grateful for the solitude of the long drive and the company of professional peers.
