Before the Next Snow

Another storm is predicted for Sunday night, with building anticipation for a Monday morning snow day.
After a couple of days of low grade fevers in Casa Bejos, an outing is just what we needed. The way these Bejos boys put on the miles you would never know they had been bed bound just days before.

Toothless

Someone lost his first tooth!

It was New Year's Day when this guy woke us up with the BIG news..."I have a loose tooth". Mama and daddy mustered up the necessary enthusiasm even though it was 7am of New Year's morning after a late (although uneventful) New Years night.

And then I remembered that I decided against finishing the tooth pillow I started to sew for Christmas when I realized just how many gifts were already piled under the Christmas tree.
"It'll be awhile until he looses a tooth, I have time."
That night, in anticipation of furious wiggling and the imminent loss of this first tooth, I stuffed and sewed the seam closed.

Little did I know it would take 19 days (yes I am late in the posting) for that tooth to finally let loose - and then only with the help of one of his classroom teachers. When Mr. Bejos was around there was a strict "no wiggling" rule, as it creeped him out.

And yes, the tooth fairy did come, leaving behind a little something in his new monster tooth pillow.

Winter

While AZ doesn't exactly lack sunshine, even at our high altitude, we are at the (early) point in winter where we search for warmth and sunshine. This hike lacked sunshine but oh the mud. Red, red mud.

Birthday

This guy celebrated his big day yesterday knee deep in the plentitude of snow that is blanketing our mountain. We met him out for dinner with (gasp!) a store bought cake.

Snow storm!

Our second snow day in a row. Our shoulders and backs are singing the pain of shoveling.

Warming Up

We are not having a warm winter. And coupled with a certain under-the-weather little boy, our outings have been limited. But, to relieve a case of cabin fever and prevent me from becoming a monster of a mama, the boys and I headed for warmer surroundings.

The eldest Bejos boy received a Camelback for Christmas, and has yet to take it off, even though it does slow him down when he runs. He will be the most hydrated individual of our household this year.
