Christmas 2012

We weren't home this Christmas, but we didn't have to get on on plane to make it to our final destination....thank goodness for that! We met Mama & Papa Bejos and Sister & BIL Bejos down in Tucson for a warm, sunny and relaxing vacation.

As you can tell there was a whole lot of R&R, a whole lot of down time, and a good amount of sunshine.

off my needles

It has been a long while since I have completed a project but maybe this winter weather will help. This pattern, found here, is a quick easy knit.
I modified it just a bit for this recipient but love, love, love the results.
It can start as a sweet little tunic dress with a cozy pair of legging or tights and hopefully morph into a sweet little sweater vest as she grows. 

It makes me yearn a little bit for a baby girl.

Things are shaping up around here in preparation for the holidays.

And out comes the book that bejos boy will read listen to again, and again, and again. It was a present from Nana last year -  a recording of her reading this Christmas classic. It is complete with a greeting from Nana that puts a huge grin on his face each and every time.

Winter

It is a winter wonderland out there with frosted trees and piles of snow for bejos boy to climb. We got a bit more snow than expected, but the bulk of it came Saturday. It snowed all. day. long.

Bejos boy was quite a help shoveling, as you can imagine, and could not be convinced inside unless tempted by cocoa or a train movie.

Into the woods we went, with the same family of friends from last year.
The boys "protected" us from animals, wielding large sticks and climbing to the best vantage points of any and every downed tree while the grown-ups hunted for the perfect tree to fill a corner location.

Did you know that there is a manufacturer out there who makes a tree with a flat backside, specifically for apartment and city dwelling folks. It is called the  "Manhattan". We found ourselves nature's own version and went merrily on our way.

No mud this year and not a drop of snow. It was quite a bit cleaner than last year. 

Trying to get a picture of all these kiddos was just about impossible. No one looking the same way at the same time. So goes it...

Snow Day

Due to current and expected weather conditions, school has been cancelled

a roof over our heads

A few months back we had one of those days where everything seemed to go wrong. Investigating a weird smell in our sunroom we discovered significant water damage to our drywall. Ugh.

After a few days of despair, fretting over the worst case scenarios of repairs - complete demo of the sunroom? new skylights? new roof? - we were referred to a local roof guy who, thankfully, convinced us that it was all a result of hail damage. Hail damage that could possibly be covered by homeowners insurance. After waiting for the adjusters report, with bated breathe, we got the good news. New roof and repairs to the back room. Can I get an "Amen!"?

So the roof process began, and ended, without much drama. 6 TONS of roofing material was removed from the roof (can you say not-up-to-code), and one sunroom window was broken.

Bejos boy was enthralled with the men on the roof and still asks after them each and every day. He is also excited by our new "windows" which are actually solar tubes we added onto the process, while the roof was bare.

Thanksgiving 2012

I know, this is waaaaaay overdue, but here's the day, the weekend, in pictures.
In addition to nice weather and good food we had great company with my BFF and her husband.

* I had a few uploading issues recently, due to maxing out my upload capabilities, but I think I may have resolved it for the time being...fingers crossed*
