Dog days of summer

While unloading my memory card from the camera I came across these pics that I failed to post. I suppose porch jumping could one day be added as a new Olympic sport.

Hard to believe that we ended the summer with just one broken arm.

School

Back to school for Casa Bejos.
Alarms are set once again.
Lunch packing has resumed.

Two different campuses this years means a new set of routines that we are all still getting used to. On the first day it meant that the boys weren't up and ready at the same time to pose together.
The big one comes with me now. He will gladly tell you about the perks of being a "staff child", including getting to school before everyone else, romping on the playground when school is officially closed, helping other teachers....and many more I am sure he will learn to appreciate (or not).

Blackberries

It's been a few years since we found ourselves in the right place at the right time for blackberries. But this year we timed it just right. And it was a perfect day.

While the grown ups foraged, the boys played in the creek, creating the best ever mud castles.

You may notice that the cast is not orange, and that - gasp - he is in the water. After a disappointing discovery that orange was not an option, spirits were revived when he found out that glow-in-the-dark was. But better than that news, was the news that a fiberglass cast meant that it was waterproof. Amen and alleluia!

Getting a picture of the cast's glow-in-the-dark property has been challenging, but my goodness it truly glows!

Anyone remember this same trip from 2011?

Day Camping

A few hours in the woods.
Mama gets to read, boys get dirty, and dog runs.
Nearly perfect.

More from the summer bucket list

Fishing Lake Mary.
We caught nothing but crayfish, which of course could be related to the other favorite activity of throwing rocks. It could also be that casting and reeling are far more interesting than just watching a bobber bob. Mr. Bejos spent a good deal of time untangling and teaching just how to cast and reel.
I, however, make some progress on my knitting.
