Food and wine

I am now back to an urban area that cooperates with my phone service!

Here's a glimpse of our day yesterday.

On my needles

Our road trip continues, on the other side of the country. I decided to pass time in the car with a little knitting, which always strikes me as an odd summer pasttime. Not much makes it odder except doing so in 100+ degree weather. You can tell that we went from one extreme to another.

Robots

On our roadtrip this morning, bejos boy kept asking "Is that a robot mom?" We couldn't figure out what he was talking about at first.

Can you imagine thinking that the road is lined with HUGE robots? I can't believe he wasn't terrified.

Summer vacation

Today was our first day of summer vacation, just the boys and me. After a slow morning of lounging, he in his chonies and me in my pjs, we finally motivated the party to the park.

Bejos boy was disappointed that there were no "friends" there, which translates to mean that there was an absence of little ones from 2-5 years of age. So we journeyed elsewhere, into the woods for a windy picnic. The highlight of the picnic was a very hairy, very thick caterpillar that made a home in my sandal while I was eating barefoot. Eek!

outdoor dining

The footprint of our tiny bungalow grows during the warm summer months when we can extend our living space to the large wraparound porch. Many snacks, meals, beers, and glasses of wine grace this cool shady space this time of year.

first day, last day

Yesterday was bejos boy's last day of school.
He had a great year, learning a whole lot, the least of which is an extensive vocabulary that surprises us almost every day. I can't even believe the difference when I look at these pictures.
And the hair! It has been a bit of concern for us, his thinning hair. It is however, coming back and I do hope he regains the head of hair he had as a two year old.

And now I start the role of "mother of two", alone with with my boys for summer days. With the amount of logistics it takes to get the boys in and out of the car I venture to say that we won't venture too far from home too often. The pool, the library, the park, but most likely not Target or the grocery store.
Happy Summer!

brothers

While the oldest bejos boy is quite good with his baby brother there are just those times when he needs a little peace and quiet. Baby bejos was crying for a good long stretch of this car ride, but the oldest bejos boy found just the solution.

Forgive the poor picture quality. We have gotten very lazy about taking the good camera with us, and tend to rely on the phone way too often!

2 months

2 months. Smiles, kicking legs and a growing fascination with hands and feet.
