Guess who started school today?!

No tears upon drop off today, but I'm not sure Mr. Bejos will be quite so lucky tomorrow, since Bejos boy might remember that dad isn't staying. Wish him luck!

Must be the nostalgia of watching my baby become less of a baby.

1 year old

Today we celebrate the day this guy joined the Bejos clan.

In a matter of just a few weeks he has found his confidence in his own two legs. He is testing those limbs by pulling up to a standing position, clutching to the couch, the cupboards, anything taller than him. He is now sporting 5 big teeth, trying to master the sippy cup, and joining us at the table for most meals.
We love, love, love you, our littlest Bejos boy.

Eleven Months

Oh this littlest Bejos. 
In just the last month a certain spark of personality has started to show itself and oh my, oh my, I think we are in for it. Stubborn, mischievous, and determined are just a few words that come to mind. He has begun to pull himself up to a kneeling, sometimes standing position, completely circumventing the whole typical crawling thing. He is partial to his army crawl and pretty darn fast.

Unlike his brother, this littlest one is into EVERYTHING. Loves opening and closing drawers, pulling things out and putting things into the toy baskets, knocking over building block structures that the biggest one has constructed, and demanding things that his brother has. All this he does with the cutest smile and twinkling eyes that are just so him.

Baby Bejos has begun waving and possibly, just maybe, blowing kisses and shooting baskets if you can believe the proclamations of his proud proud parents. He'll eat beans (AMEN!), cheese, Cheerios, peppers, pancakes, and sometimes pasta, but is still a little guy according to the weight charts.

I'm not ready for a 1 year old so I'm hoping that this last month doesn't pass by too quickly. I already miss the days of snuggling with my newborn and am very, very sad to have these days of infancy slip through my fingers.

8 months

Look at me being timely and what not with baby bejos' monthly shot. 

What's new? 

Mobility! He is not a typical crawler but he can work his way across the room before you know it. His current objects of affection are power cords and anything his big brother has in his hands.

Mr. Bejos would call to attention the intense concentration that he takes, as evidenced by the tongue, a trait that is passed down through my side of the family (hello papa bejos!)

He cannot sit up on his own yet, tumbling over in a rather comical way. And while he was sleeping well during the night something happened over the course of the last week and he is up every two hours again. Ugh. I hope it's short lived for his sake and mine. I think it has something to do with teething as he has taken to sucking on his bottom lip and sticking out his tongue like a hungry frog. It's a good thing he is so darn cute. 

5 months

Oh my sweet bejos baby, what a joy you are.
5 months and you are eating up a storm,  ALWAYS happy to offer a smile and a giggle, and sleeping through the night!

2 months

2 months. Smiles, kicking legs and a growing fascination with hands and feet.

1 month

It's hard for me to believe that 4 short weeks have passed with this little man in our lives. Overall he is a mellow baby, with the exception of this week which has been marked by a growth spurt that is keeping us very much connected, quite literally.

birth weight

At birth this little guy was weighed at 7lbs 14 oz, the same as his big brother. We were all a little surprised as the delivery room wagers all came in around 6 1/2 - 7 lbs. At his 24 hr checkup nurses were alarmed when they thought he had lost 14% of his birth weight. The only logical conclusion was that his birth weight was incorrect and we have been tracking his weight gain fastidiously ever since.

Fortunately, the littlest bejos boy is a good eater and has been gaining weight steadily. This week he weighed in at 7lbs 8oz, perhaps exceeding his birth weight of "about 7 lbs".

He still has chicken legs like his big brother and I predict that yet again I will be deprived of a chubby chunky-thighed baby.

Was that just too cruel to post a post and not include the final results???

So, to continue the story...
We waited and waited some more. And with the help of some "let's get this baby out" meds, things began to happen. We walked the halls, visited with bejos boy, and walked some more.
Then the hard work began, and I will spare you the details.

At 1:12 am on March 30, 2013 we welcomed bejos BOY #2!
Weight is debatable, but that is another story for another day :)

The whole family is doing well, settling into life at home. Picture taking is happening and I will do a photo dump here soon, I promise.
