It was one year ago tonight that I went into labor with baby bejos, a cindo de Mayo that will never be forgotten!
We had just opened boxes of presents and, too tired to deal with cleaning up piles of wrapping paper and baby paraphernalia, I actually uttered the words "Don't worry about it love, I'll take care of it tomorrow. I am way too tired to deal with it now". Some of you may not know this about me but I am a person who loves order. I hate going to bed with the house in disorder which, of course, drives my husband crazy. So, giddy with the freedom of this great responsibility, Mr. Bejos hurried us off to bed where my water broke the minute my head hit the pillow. **Sigh**
Leaving for the hospital we knew that the next time we came home it would be with our son or daughter. Knowing I dreaded returning with our new baby to a house in disorder, my husband enlisted our friends to whisk away the mess into another room and shut the door.
My point, you ask? A year later I go to bed every night wishing that there were little magical elves, like our good friends, who came into my home at night and tidied up my living space. But alas I am destined to learn one of those lessons of parenthood...something about letting go and priorities, blah, blah, blah...when all I want is a spic and span kitchen when I stumble in to make coffee in the morning.

Sandbox
Parenthood is about sacrifice, right?
So, for my baby bejos, I sacrificed a garden bed to create him his very own sandbox. It pales in comparison to the sandbox I had as a kiddo, but hopefully this simple gift will too consume hours of digging and flooding and sculpting and burying....that is when he stops eating all the rocks and sand that his chubby little hands can hold!

Fieldtrip
This weekend we hit the road to check out the Fossil Creek Creamery. The baby goats were cute, friendly, and hungry but more importantly the fresh goat cheese foods were delicious. Cheese, fudge, yogurt...yum!

Egg Crawl 2011
Baby bejos was invited to his first Easter egg hunt!
At first neither knew quite what to do,
but eventually they got the hang of it
even if most of the eggs ended up cracked and ready for egg salad!
These two little ones even interacted with each other a few times
when they weren't practicing a moment of quite in the green, green grass

A warm sunny send-off
Some say the southwest is too warm.
I say bring it on...I am so ready for summer and sunshine and yes, HOT temperatures.
Our goodbyes were said down south where these two little tykes tolerated a car ride, a trip to IKEA, Trader Joes and Changing Hands bookstore before settling in for a dip in the pool.
Baby bejos already misses his cousin who kept him company in the backseat of the car sharing sippy cups and cheerios.
