Summer Recap: California

Every other year we arrange a rendezvous in northern CA with some friends at the High Sierra Music Festival. It was a hot and sunny music filled kick-off to a multi-week, multi-city summer vacation.

An oasis in the desert, this place is tucked away down a long dry dirt road that will nearly shake your fillings out. We procured a permit two months ago, and have been looking forward to our adventure. The last time we were here the water wasn't quite warm enough, but this day it was a welcome relief from the summer sun.

Our first day of day-camping happened this week. While I had plans of biking down the dirt road, the bejos boys were completely entertained to read and play in the tent.

We are settling nicely into summer vacation. It hasn't taken us too long to adjust to the lazy mornings, lack of agenda, and warm, sunny weather. The bodies of the Bejos boys are sun kissed and rosy, the yard is green and blooming all sorts of colors. We miss Mr. Bejos during the day, but we make the most of our  evenings. The grill is getting lots of use, as is the outdoor table.

While winter evenings find our household changing into pajamas the moment we arrive home, the longer days have us rushing out into the woods before the bedtime hours. With a football in hand we can now successfully complete the loop. The boys go deep for passes, and we don't have to carry anyone home.
