Sycamore Canyon

It had been years since Mr. Bejos and I hiked this particular canyon. And, as time does, it distorted my memory of just to get the trailhead, down a long bumpy dirt road, and just how far it was to a particular turn-around point that I had in mind.
Turns out both were a lot further than I remembered. The boys trudged on down the canyon like seasoned hikers, but the trip back up was a little more work, and took a whole lot of inventive play that involved boobytraps and magic invisible walls.

Thanksgiving 2017

It was a warm hot Thanksgiving week this year, filled with fun times and the added bonus of the best of friends. Thanksgiving morning itself brought us on a "turkey trot" that the boys interpreted as a hunt for turkeys. Their eyes lit up when they remembered that they had the perfect  turkey calling device that these very visitors gifted them not too long ago. Cheetah & ninja costumes were a must.

The boys are still missing Honker the dog. He has made his way into all sorts of roles in their imaginative play.

Christmas is coming!

The Nutcracker performance always marks the beginning of the holiday season for us.
And yes, the little one could not be talked out of batman attire.

Zion National Park

We took Goldilocks for a road trip, crossing off an item on my bucket list for National Parks.
On the way we stopped at the bridge over the Colorado River, grabbed a few cookies from Jacob Lake Inn, and spent the night in Kanab, finding a cute town with amazing hikes and a killer playground.
