On Sunday this boy turned 8.
As tradition dictates, we headed to warm, warm Phoenix for a birthday adventure.
He chose the Children's Museum.
It was a great choice!

San Diego
While the sun and ocean tempted our visit to San Diego, these people were the real reason for our visit - minus a few faces of the other generation who didn't make it into the pic.
So many boys. 7 to be exact. Not a baby girl in sight, with the exception of one incubating baby who just might break the mold, although my money is on another boy.
And we even got to celebrate 3 March birthdays!

Spring Break 2018
For Spring Break we headed west. The last few months, as evidenced through the photos we share, seem to demonstrate a certain form of wanderlust that has struck us at Casa Bejos. While the boys have always been good travelers, it is getting easier and easier, allowing us to extend our road trip radius. The last time we wandered to San Diego the little was was only 2. On that trip home I remember the very moment the boys "hit the wall". We were a mere two hours from home but no one could be in the car any longer. Now, with a book on CD, a few well timed snacks and treats, we seem to avoid those meltdowns.
Can you tell that I always seem to be the sweeper on our outdoor adventures? Always taking up the rear.
These boys were NOT happy with each other during these pics. The big one wanted a photo by himself but the little one refused to move. Oh his will!
But no more than 15 minutes later the tides had turned and they were bestie once again.

a familiar place
While we enjoy traveling and discovering new places, we always seem to return to a handful of familiar places. A return to this red rock locale demonstrated to me just how much things have changed in the last few years. No real changes to this place, but endless changes to the ways in which I have to monitor the way the boys play. On this particular occasion I was eventually able to sit back and bask in the sun once I witnessed the new confidence and ability the little one had on the rocks and around the water. At first his timid crossing of the stream required my hand and assistance, but in time he took a deep breath and took a leap - both literally and figuratively.

reading
This particular day we had just returned from the library and the car was apparently too comfortable for the eldest to leave. Meanwhile, inside, the youngest was making his way through his pile of library treasures. Still needing some help, and clarification between b and d, he wanted me to be close by.
