a few more JT pics

Each day we rose early, as one does with a baby in the house, which afforded us long days filled with opportunities of outdoor play. The weather, as you can tell, was on the chilly side. The wind, above all else was the strongest element.

Sanchez travels with us all the time.

The hunters. No actual animals were harmed, as neither had particular good aim 😏.

 Baby's first food!

Sister Bejos celebrated her birthday with us, and we constructed a cake that we had been emailing each other about for months!

Joshua Tree, a few highlights

While intending to find a well, or dam, or some other real landmark, we aimlessly wandered through the desert following the wrong path. We stumbled upon the remains of this pink house and found some of the most epic rocks to climb up, around, and thru.

Lunch at the JT Saloon. Mahi mahi tacos were amazing.

Sister Bejos and baby cousin get a read aloud - sometimes a painful experience at this early stage of reading, but the pride in his accomplishment is worth every penny. "That was easy" is how he ends every single book with a sly look on his face.

One of the highlights of the trip, for sure, was the World Famous crochet museum

recently

No excuses.
It has simply been a long time and I am just too lazy at the end of the day to upload pics and write a little something about life.
I'll try harder 😀

In the middle of "winter" the bejos clan gathered with another faction of the bejos family who happened to be west of the Mississippi for a desert wedding. We departed after school, in the middle of the week, driving under a dropping ceiling of clouds that announced the arrival of one of our few winter storms this year. We skirted the edge of the storm for almost the entirety of the drive. The real adventure was when we entered the desert and literally coasted on fumes through a desolate area void of gas stations and life of any kind. It was a tense end to the trip as we watched the miles pass and held our breath. I have never been so relieved to pull up to a gas pump, nearly 35 miles after the gas light illuminated!

The setting was Joshua Tree. I had been once before, but only from the south entrance which was not very exciting....had to drive something like 45 miles before even laying eyes on a joshua tree. The north entrance however, well, it drops you right into the rocks and trees that make this place an iconic one.

And while that was amazing in and of itself, the real draw was getting to hang out with these people.
