Poppies

Each and every year I try to grow poppies. I have tried seeds from the store, seeds from wildflower mixes. I tried seeds from brother Bejos's farmhouse. I have even tried seeds from Mama Bejos's plants that were harvested from grandpa's poppies, and oh how I wanted those to be the ones to grow!
But this year I had success.

Where, you might ask, did I finally get my magical seeds?

Well, I found them in my boys' Easter basket. Most certainly a rather inexpensive find, finally bloomed poppies in my AZ garden.

Harvest

Bejos boy dirtied himself up digging up our meager potato crop and picking our green, green tomatoes. They just never turn red here in our neck of the woods.

my gardener

Earlier this summer, on a day devoted to yard work during bejos boy's nap, mr. bejos and I went our separate ways to tackle projects. I stumbled upon him weeding my herb garden telling me how good gardening was "for the chi". Of course his good chi was ripping out my baby zinnias, all except for one lone survivor.
This single pink bloom.

right now

We expected rain all day today. We got a little snow.
This was about an hour ago.
