November??

How do these months keep slipping by?!? Just like that the mercury in our thermometers has plummeted and the wood stove is cranking out heat each and every night.

Want my excuse for not posting, this time?? It has simply to do with no more space on my start up disk...a situation I thought I had resolved but alas, I have not. I think I have the solution but I am now missing my external hard drive. While I am still holding out hope that it is sunk really, really down deep in the couch cushions, I am starting to be concerned that the Montessori education we have provided our children is turning on us. I mean we do want these boys to be independent and all. And while we like the idea that our toddler throws away his own diapers, he has become a bit over zealous in his efforts. We have found plates, sippy cups, shoes, and sweatshirts in the trash. Who knows what else has made it past our cursory glances into the trash.
Sigh

In the meantime you will have to enjoy blurry pictures from the iPhone if you want any updates from me. One of these days I will transfer pics from the DSLR into iPhoto and we'll have a rewind post.
But until then..

That little one was not exactly cooperative in this photo shoot, but man he was awfully cute in that yellow fedora.

Back to school night

The boys hosted us last week at their "back to school night". The eldest whipped through lessons as if he was racing an imaginary competitor while the littlest one walked the classroom with his musical instruments, providing the soundtrack for the room.

This guy did eventually show us a sorting work and it was too cute. Pom poms in one bowl, pumpkins in the other. The funniest thing is his new chattiness (if that is a word) which is a whole lot of nonsensical sounds spoken as if he has a mouthful of marbles. He is so very earnest about these conversations though. I'll have to get it on video.

West coast recap

It's so rare that you encounter one of those long weekend trips that actually feels like a vacation. This last trip was a rare gem of that variety.
We packed up the boys Thursday evening, in their pjs, after a long day at work, and put in a few hours of driving time to make the next day's drive a little more tolerable for the then wide awake duo. It just may be our new mode if car travel.
Family, wedding, beach. A perfect mini vacation.

autumn

Oh the amount of bribing that takes place in order to get a few shots is more than I am willing to admit to. Lets just say it involved crackers, peanut butter, Skittles, and maybe even a movie when we got home.  This particular day was the same as the Home Depot 8 foot post day, if you remember that from about a week ago. What possessed me to grocery shop, hit the home improvement store, and try to do photos is beyond me. But in the end the sky provided fantastic filtered light, phenomenal clouds and held out from raining until the very end.

Road trip

Never fear the road when there's a superhero in the back seat.

birthday climb

It was about 9 years ago, just before my 30th birthday(holy cow!), that I last climbed this beautiful mountain that looms in the skyline of our town. As my birthday surprise Mr. Bejos hired a sitter and we hit the trail to do it once again, this time together.
It is a deceiving climb. The mileage is not impressive, per say, and the first 3.5 miles aren't too bad. But then the rocky scrambling begins and the two false summits dash one's dream of finally reaching the top.  I was ready to give up, almost, but not quite hoping that the clouds moving in would bring down the rain and we could turn around and call it a day. Oh how glad I am that it did not rain and that we pushed on to the top. The views were stunning.

Almost sweeter than the ascent was the post-hike beer and removal of hiking boots. Thanks Mr. Bejos :)
