Summer Reading

Regardless of the hesitance on behalf of a certain 5 year old, ahem, we are sticking to a semi-regular reading schedule this summer. Our optimal times are when the littlest one is napping, as long as we don't have too many other items on our to-do list. Thus, the semi-regular routine.

Yesterday we carved it out while I made a batch of ah-mazing granola bar things.

Camping

For Father's Day last weekend we took to the woods for a 2 night camping trip. Mr. Bejos received a few new camping related gifts, like this swanky collapsible camp table.

The boys stayed SUPER clean and didn't have any fun.

The eldest (but mostly me) was captivated by a mound of hatching grasshoppers. I have never seen anything  like it.

The boys stayed up way later than usual, but we were having way too much fun to stick to our typical schedule.
Apparently that idea wasn't a good one; the youngest Bejos decided not to sleep, AT ALL, during the night. Needless to say  we decided against night two and headed home, zombie-like, for a full night of sleep in our own beds.

These days

Here are a few random shots from our last week or so. Outings, casual summer attire, festival, building project (!), and the yummiest margaritas around.

Entomologist

Some one has recently decided that when he grows up he wants to study bugs, or maybe mighty machines.

In the meantime he is a protector of all bugs and today, to his giddy delight, he discovered three different groups of ladybug eggs. Oh the simple joys!

Almost

The outdoor pool is open, soccer is over, and we have a few more days of school to log in. Above all else I cannot wait to turn off my 6am reoccurring alarm and forgo the ritual of packing lunches each and every night....

Day camping

The weather didn't cooperate this Memorial Day weekend- gray skies, random showers, and very cool temperatures. But after seeing all the campers in the forest we decided that we  needed to take part, for at least a few hours.
And so the tradition of day camping continues, complete with a daytime campfire and marshmallows.

Current Conditions

Although the iPhone pic doesn't accurately catch the precipitation, let me assure you that right this very moment, on May 15, 2015 at 6:37am, it is SNOWING.
We have a birthday party planned for tomorrow, a party we were planning to hold outside. We are rewriting the plans right now for a household filled with 8 four and five year olds. Hmmmm.
